Personality! What really makes great pictures.

facebook-17

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a great friend and client, I had the most amazing time, and the pictures really reflected that.  After my normal 24 hour "zombie" period following any wedding I had an epiphany.  One of the biggest reasons the pictures turned out so amazing, was that we really went above and beyond when it came to capturing the wedding partie's personality!  I see so many wedding pictures from other photographers that I sometimes get lost in the sea of cliche pictures and poses, and few of them ever tell me anything about who a couple really is.  I want to change...

Nikon D600 Review

Nikon D600 Review The Nikon D600 has the potential to be one of the hottest cameras of the year, with that in mind I knew I had to pick one up and see if all the camera's bite matched it's bark.  The D600 is clearly aimed at amateurs looking to make the move from a crop body (DX format) to the world of full frame (FX format), and as such it will launch at the lowest entry price of any full frame DSLR.  Many worried that this price point would force Nikon's hand, and come at to great of a cost in terms of lost features and build quality.  Has Nikon cut to much of the fat?  Or will this camera...

I had the pleasure of working with Ali and Colin yesterday, what a great couple.  Even better though, it was a once in a life time evening as we received an annular eclipse, an eclipse that occurs approx ever 20 years that only partially blocks the sun. Shot some really great pictures of the happy couple, and I cant wait to see them again in a year for their wedding on June 8th 2013!

Photo of the Week

art-25

Every week I hope to do a photo of the week, and try to steer away from the normal couples, seniors, and weddings  in an effort to showcase some of my landscape work.  Every photo of the week will be accompanied by a story about how that picture was taken, and what unique issues I may have had with capturing the image. This week I want to start with a favorite image of mine from a couple years ago.  My friend and colleague  Grant Watkins and I had decided to undertake a massive 4 day road trip through 6 states during early march of 2009.  One stop a long our journey was to be the famed...
