FAQ

You have some questions?  No worries your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life, and I would be surprised if you didn’t want to know a little more.  Here are some basic questions and answers, and if you have any others do not hesitate to drop me a line.

How long have you been shooting weddings?
I shot my very first wedding in June of 2008.

How long is your wedding day coverage?
With the Timeless, and Forever packages the coverage begins 30 minutes before you ask me to arrive, and ends when you ask me to leave.  With the Always package, wedding day coverage is 8 hours.

How flexible are the packages?
We can talk about any specific needs or requests you have in a free face to face consultation, just contact me and we can work something out.

Do you require a retainer? and if so why?
I do require a non refundable retainer equal to half the value of your wedding package.  While I hate to see problems arise for my couples, I know it sometimes happens, and in those situations it is often times tough fill an empty date especially on short notice.   Your retainer will guarantee my availability on your requested date.

Is there a reason I would want to have a second photographer?
As amazing as every photographer wants to be, we simply cannot be in two places at once, and at an event like a wedding the hectic schedules and short time frames often require a second photographer to capture every fantastic moment of your once in a lifetime day.  I also love the added perspective that having a second set of eyes can give you.  I hand pick all of my second shooters and stand behind their quality and professionalism as if it were my own on your wedding day.

What kind of equipment do you use?
I shoot with Nikon DSLRs for a detailed list of equipment click here.

Do you travel for weddings?
Of course, it just depends on the details.  I try my best to make every date a possibility, but sometime the logistics win out and and traveling just isn’t feasible.   All travel expenses will be added to the total cost of your package and can be discussed during a free consultation, just contact me today!

Will the images on my disc be watermarked?
You will receive full resolution edited images with no watermarks.  You will also receive a selection of smaller images you may choose to use on facebook if you please, these smaller images are watermarked, but you do not have to use them if you prefer not to.

Can I print my own images?
Absolutely, I encourage my couples to go and get some pictures in their hands the day they get the disc.  Having a disc is nice and all, but it simply doesn’t compare to a stack of photos you can pass around and show your friends and family.

Why should I print with you?
While I do allow clients to get their prints made anywhere they choose, I also offer print ordering directly through my website.  I do all of my printing through a lab in Pittsburgh KS that is one of the best professional print labs in the nation and relatively local to boot.  I tell everyone this, whether they are my client or not, you simply cannot compare the quality of a print made from walgreens or walmart to that of a true lab quality print that has been professionally color corrected and printed on your choice of paper.  I can help guide you through the process of choosing all the different print options, and even personally guarantee the quality of prints you receive.

What size of print would be best?
Well that is a difficult question.  Why don’t you check out this diagram decide for yourself?

What types of prints are best?

There are hundreds of different types of prints; Lustre, Gloss, Matte, Metallic, Canvas, Mounted, Framed, Gallery Wraps, and many many more.  Personally I like lustre for your most common prints, and matte for black and white prints.  Metallic prints are by far the neatest prints you will find if you have the right image and the right environment to showcase the print.  Gallery wraps are incredibly popular right now and offer an incredibly fun, casual, and clean way to showcase your images.

I am on the fence about getting a wedding album, are they really that amazing?
In short YES!  Wedding albums are worth every penny, and I can’t say enough good things about the Kiss (the company that prints my albums), their work is incredible.  I understand the issues of cost, but trust me when I say that this is one investment you will not regret.

Who prints your wedding albums?
I use a company called Kiss Wedding Books.  They are simply amazing!  You may visit their website here.

Who designs your wedding albums?
I do all of my own design work from start to finish on your wedding albums, I really enjoy this approach because it helps to truly capture the story and personality of your big day.

How soon should we expect our images?
Generally it takes between 2-4 weeks to edit and process a wedding depending on the number of images, specific editing, and time of year.  Albums can take an additional 2-3 weeks to receive due to design, printing, and shipping times.

How many images will we receive?
Always a tricky question, however, I would say that on average my clients receive between 300 and 400 edited full resolution images.

How many images do you edit?
As many as it takes to insure that every image is to my standards.  Sometimes the planets all align and the lighting is perfect and wedding’s require very little editing, and other times I might put in many 8 hour days editing one wedding.

What does your editing consist of?
It starts with a process of combing through the couple thousand images taken on your wedding day and selecting the couple hundred really amazing ones, then each one of those images is color corrected and treated to match a specific standard.  Beyond that a select few images might have blemishes or scars removed at the couple’s request.  I also try to do some heavier editing on a few images to give them a very stylized look.  Finally part of that process includes adding a few black and white images to the mix.
